Hello everybody,

Let me introduce myself: my name is Wiro Mahieu, upright bass and bass guitar player in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. I was born in 1964 and started playing the bass guitar when I was 13. At that time Queen were one of the first of my favourite bands, but when I turned 17 and started playing the upright bass I got more and more involved in jazz music. My main influences are the Bill Evans Trio with such bass players as Eddie Gomez and Scott LaFaro, soul bands such as Pleasure and Cameo, while musicians the likes of George Duke and Herbie Hancock have been and continue to be a major inspiration for myself. My education took place at the Lindenberg Music Centre in Nijmegen and ArtEZ Arnhem. This website will provide an overview of what I have done up until now and what is currently going on in my musical career. I hope you will enjoy the reading and listening experience!

Kind regards,

Wiro Mahieu
